Exploding the Fibonacci myth – everything you need to know
This page has everything you need to know about Fibonacci. It is a one stop resource page for educators, students and the curious alike. From this page, the links will take you on a journey of discovery of Fibonacci.
I realise that referring to Fibonacci as a Myth may be controversial. The man himself lived a long time ago and over the mists of time (and particularly the current era of information content) the idea of ‘Fibonacci’ has become blurred and encompasses many things that people like to refer to.
There is:
- the man himself,
- the sequence of numbers that is named after him,
- the relationship with the natural world.
This page has links to everything you need to know about Fibonacci. This is content I have spent a good while compiling and researching and putting together. And in that process my understanding of what Fibonacci numbers represent has evolved.
Exploring other areas around this simple sequence of numbers is a gateway to understanding the mysteries of history.
Social relationships
We can look at the fibonacci numbers themselves and the relationships they hold within each other, which gives us a very unique understanding of where we sit within a whole unit – more on that later. The Divine Proportion or Golden Ratio or the many other names it goes by have commanded our curiosity and passion throughout history and beyond.
Source code of nature
See how these fibonacci numbers are illustrated in nature. An examination of this leads us to see the larger network these sit within.
The Fibonacci man
Who was he? and when was he alive? What cultural understanding did he sit within? These are all important questions which, when answered offer us an insight into an important quest of modern history which Fibonacci contributed to albeit without knowing he did.

Exploding the Fibonacci myth
An introduction into everything you need to know about : Fibonacci and geometry in nature are often associated with each other. That is the case, they are associated. There is a way we can see the Fibonacci sequence in nature and this is an exciting and rewarding journey to go on.
But… Fibonacci didn’t invent geometry and he definitely didn’t invent nature.
He stumbled upon a way to express it.
Fibonacci lived in a time that still used Roman Numerals and wrote a book introducing the number system into Europe which we still use today. This book included his observation of the curious behaviour of a certain sequence of numbers as a side note. He used the famous Rabbit Riddle to illustrate it.
Fast forward to today…..
Numbers and their abstract uses uphold our current structure of society. Interest rates; mortgage payments; income benefits; data sets; population growth; exam results; net pay; GDP; RRP; VAT. Then there are the identifying numbers: PPS; NI; Tax codes etc. And Date of birth; time of day, the list goes on. You are hard pushed to live in a sector of society that isn’t dominated by your relationship to the numbers around you.
And therefore when you hear about a number sequence that signals the very source code of nature itself, we can instantly make the numbers themselves a bigger deal than they need to be?
Beware of Jumping to conclusions
A conclusion that is quickly jumped to is that there is “A magical formula of numbers that make nature”
Well, I’m here to tell you it isn’t the numbers that are the important bit, it is their relationship. The numbers in the sequence sit in right relationship to each other. This relationship is what we need to know. This relationship what we need to embrace, understand, absorb and reflect in every cell of our being.
And that relationship looks to us like a pattern. We visibly see that relationship as a pattern. (link to pattern p[age)
Pattern is how numbers relate to each other. Pattern is the cousin of number. Pattern is the language that numbers speak.

In our overrating of the importance of number in society we have come to worship at the altar of those that are good with numbers. And Fibonacci was one of those. Like the silicon valley whizz kid of his time his very special set of numbers was the new algorithm of the day.
A Remembering
It is time now to remember the pattern. To remember the relationship that he expressed using numbers.
And with that …I invite you to follow me into the world of Fibonacci links and resources that will take you on a journey that your soul wants you to remember. It is everything you need to know about Fibonacci. A world of fibonacci in nature without a number in sight.
